Half Circle Skirt The Half Circle Skirt is a full skirt that sweeps from a fitted waist, over the hips, to a flowing hemline, which swings gracefully when you move. The hem forms one half of a circle. Special care was taken while designing to make the fullness drape gracefully, avoiding any unflattering folds at center front. Before marking and cutting the hem, the skirt is hung on a dress form for 24 hours. This allows the bias sections of the hemline to stretch out before hemming, eliminating the dipping, undulating hemlines often found in off the rack versions. It has a comfortable one-inch waistband, and is fully lined with a cling-free lining. All seams are neatly finished inside, with no exposed seam allowances. Finishing details will vary, depending on the fabric chosen. Our Fabric Type Chart will help you determine which category the fabric you are considering is in. Woven fabrics have an invisible zipper hidden in the side seam or center back seam, with a button closure on the waistband. Silks have a matching fabric-covered button; other fabrics have a button carefully chosen to compliment the fabric's colors. Stretch fabrics have an elastic waistband which, once on, lies smoothly without gathers. The detachable lining has a grosgrain ribbon waistband with a snap closure. When on, it snaps to the waistband of the skirt to prevent shifting. Our stretch fabric version is cut exactly the same as the woven one. The stretch allows the skirt to pull on and off without the need for openings or zippers, but no stretching of the fabric is required for fit. This allows it to fall gracefully without clinging.
